"Tour Down Under Comes to Port Elliot"

Victor Harbor & Port Elliot Lions have been invited to decorate some old bikes in celebration of this year’s Tour Down Under. ¬† On the left of the picture is Lion David Bond and Alan Steele a National Trust Volunteer are showing two of the decorated bikes. Great work!!¬†

The Santos Tour Down Under is the first event on the UC1 World Tour and starts the international pro cycling calendar in the heart of Australia’s Summer from the 12th – 21st January 2024. This year we are very excited as Stage four commences at Murray Bridge and once racing the peloton will push east to Langhorne Creek, sprinting past its general store and setting their sights for Strathalbyn. This leads to the only significant climb a category three at Gemmell Hill. Riders will have a focused push towards Goolwa to follow, and a spectacular finish at the historic town of Port Elliott; the uphill finish towards the ocean on The Strand and ¬†sparkling vistas all around. Can’t get any better than that. Not forgetting this is a Santos Tour Down Under debut

The MD201C2 Zone 5 Convention was held from Friday 20th October to Sunday 22nd October at Mt Barker SA. The Gala Dinner was held on Saturday 21st October at Auchendarroch House and was a great success.

Everyone had fun and the food was delicious! Thank you to Auchendarroch House for the amazing food provided. Thank you also to the Australian Army Band who certainly kept the entertainment coming with great music. There was lots of dancing and singing from the attendees.

It is very obvious that the colour orange was the theme for the evening. Victor Harbor & Port Elliot Club Members were certainly in theme.
